When traveling to the beautiful country of Finland, be sure to stop by the city of Tampere, located in the southern region. The diversity of the people and culture is such, that many people return year after year.
The people and culture of Tampere has something to offer everyone; it is perfect for the traveling couple, lone traveler and families. With options that fit each and often overlap. Enjoy the local dish, mustamakkara, in one of their many restaurants, take a sauna like a local, shop in their variety of markets and malls, spend a day in their amusement park. If art and history are of interest, they have amazing museums through out the city; including ones that are family friendly, enjoyable by both children and adults alike. They range from historical figures, modern art and even lovable fictional characters.
Those that are fond of architecture can experience the quaintness of wooden cottages, cathedrals and churches or amazing observation towers. Climb an observation tower to experience breathtaking views of the city far below that stretch for miles.
Tampere offers stunning nature, with an abundance of opportunities to explore year round. In the winter skiers come from all over and in the summer many visit their lakes; not to mention, the beautiful scenic walks people take any time of the year.
To really experience the life of Tampere enjoy some of the same recreational activities of the locals; go to an ice hockey game, soccer game or become familiar with a favorite local musician.
Music is a large part of their life and one can find live music in almost every genre; however, rock is one of the largest music scenes in Tampere for the younger population. Drink some beer or cider while live music fills the atmosphere of many bars and cafes.
